INSTALLATION
AND ALIGNMENT OF ROTATING MACHINERY
Purpose
This course is designed to give participants the practical skills to conduct
an installation and alignment of rotating machinery in accordance with
best industry practice. On completion, participants will be able to correctly
install rotating machinery; conduct precision measurements (dial indicators
and laser alignment); identify symptoms of misalignment; understand precision
standards; undertake appropriate calculations and conduct acceptance testing
and commissioning of rotating equipment. This course is applicable to
a wide range of industries and is designed for those involved in the operation
and maintenance of fixed plant and machinery.
Pre requisite
There are no pre requisites for this course.
Course Content
The Installation and Alignment of Rotating Machinery training plan is
based on the Unit of Competencies within the Australian Qualification
Framework (AQF):
UEPOPS201A - Comply with Occupational Health and Safety
Policy and Procedures
UEPMNT402A - Conduct Complex Leveling and Alignment
WorkSafe Western Australia Certification
Legislation in the Workplace - O.S.H. Acts and Regulations; Mines
Safety Inspection Act and Regulations; codes of practice where applicable.
Plan Work - Resources required; relevant plans; priorities; work
site procedures, contacts; hazard identification and control measures.
Alignment - Leveling and aligning principles; couplings; calculations;
rigging and lifting principles; shimming and packing materials; bearings
and seals; technical drawings and data recording; fastening devices; associated
plant and systems.
Practical Training - Use precision measuring equipment; conduct
alignment and leveling; apply data recording techniques; calculate and
apply correct adjustment techniques; work to precise tolerances.
Certification
Australia
An Australian Skills Training Certificate in Installation and Alignment
of Rotating Machinery will be issued to competent participants.
International
On successful completion of this course, candidates will be issued with
an Australian Skills Training Ltd Certificate of Competency in Installation
and Alignment of Rotating Machinery.
Duration
2 to 3 Days depending on previous experience.
