ELEVATED
WORK PLATFORM (WP)
Purpose
This course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills
to plan, prepare and complete Elevating Work Platform work as prescribed
by the "National Occupational Health & Safety Certification Standards
for Users & Operators of Industrial Equipment".
[NOHSC 1006 (2001)]. On completion of this course participants will
be able to conduct routine checks; plan work; check controls, operate
and shut down elevated work platform.
Pre requisite
There are no pre requisites however the one day course is designed for
participants with previous experience in operating elevated work platforms
under supervision.
Course Content
The Elevated Work Platform Training Plan is based on the Unit of Competency
within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF):
UEPOPS201A - Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Policy and
Procedures
UEPOPS217A - Conduct Elevating Work Platform Operations
WorkSafe Western Australia Certification
Legislation in the Workplace - OSH Acts and regulations, Specific
regulations dealing with cranes and AS 2550 Pt. 1 and AS 1418.10 Pt. 10,
[NOSHSC 1006 (2001)] Schedule “B” - Boom Type Elevating work
Platforms Competency Units.
Plan Work - Elevating Work Platform type and reach requirements,
job requirements, priorities, Workplace Rules and Procedures, identifying
hazards and hazard control measures, communication and emergency procedures.
Boom-Type/Elevating Work Platform Operation - Pre-start/Pre-operation
checks, set-up outriggers/stabilizers, Load Chart interpretation, AS 2550.10
- Cranes Safe Use - Elevated Work Platforms.
Certification
Darwin & Western Australia
Competent candidates will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (WP)
and a nationally recognized WorkSafe 60 day interim certificate. WorkSafe
will issue a Certificate of Competency within that 60 day period.
International
On successful completion of this course, candidates will be issued with
an Australian Skills Training Ltd Certificate of Competency in Elevated
Work Platform operation.
Duration
8 hours conducted over 1 day (experienced operators) or 16 hours over
2 days (non-experienced).
