FORKLIFT
OPERATION (LF)
Purpose
Current legislation requires operators to be trained and operate a forklift
in accordance with AS 2359.2. This course is designed to provide participants
with the sound understanding and knowledge required to enable them to
operate a fork lift truck safely.
Pre requisite
There are no pre requisites however the one day course is designed for
participants to have previous experience in operating fork lifts.
Course Content
The Forklift Training Plan is based on the Unit of Competency within the
Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF):
UEPOPS201A - Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Policy and
Procedures
UEPOPS228A or MNMG238A - Conduct Forklift Operations
WorkSafe Western Australian Certification
Legislation in the Workplace - OSH Acts and regulations (Duty
of Care), [NOHSC 7019 (1992)] National Guidelines for Occupational Health
and Safety Competency Standards for the Operation of Load Shifting Equipment
and other types of specified equipment, AS 2359.1 (Jib Attachments) &
AS 2359.2 (Requirements, qualifications and training of operators)
Plan Work - Lift - truck type and capacity requirements, stability
attachments, workplace rules and procedures, workplace hazards and priorities.
Lift Truck Operation - Main components of an industrial truck,
pre-start/pre-operation checks, data plate identification/interpretation,
operating procedures, shift loads.
Practical Training - Operate industrial lift - truck after conducting
pre-start/pre-operational checks, shift various loads and perform shelf
stacking at different heights and load/unload truck, shut down/post operational
checks carried out, parking up.
Certification
Darwin & Western Australia
Statement of Attainment (LF) - Nationally recognized WorkSafe 60 day interim
certificate, Certificate of Competency will be issued by WorkSafe within
the 60 day period.
International
On successful completion of this course, candidates will be issued with
an Australian Skills Training Ltd Certificate of Competency in Forklift
Operation.
Duration
8 hours over 1 day (experienced operators) or 16 hrs over 2 days (non-experienced
operators).
