Nationally Recognised Training logoMATERIALS HOISTS/CANTILEVER PLATFORMS (HM) & PERSONNEL HOISTS (HP)

Purpose
This course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to plan, prepare and complete work involving a “builder’s hoist” and/or personnel hoist as prescribed by the "National Occupational Health & Safety Certification Standards for Users & Operators of Industrial Equipment". [NOHSC 1006 (2001)]. On completion of this course participants will be able to conduct routine checks; plan work; check controls, operate and shut down a hoist.

Pre requisite
There are no pre requisites for this course.

Course Content
The Personnel/Materials Hoist Training Plan is based on the Unit of Competency within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF):

UEPOPS201A - Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
UEPOPS229A - Operate Lifting and Load Shifting Equipment for loads less than ten tonnes
WorkSafe Western Australia Certification

Legislation in the Workplace - OSH Acts and regulations, Specific regulations dealing with cranes and AS 2550 Pt. 1 and AS 1418.10 Pt. 10, [NOSHSC 1006 (2001)] Schedule “B” – Materials Hoist Competency Units.
Plan Work – Material Hoist type and requirements, cantilevered platform, tower hoists, flexible steel wire rope, job requirements, priorities, Workplace Rules and Procedures, identifying hazards and hazard control measures, communication and emergency procedures.
Material and Personnel Hoist Operation - Pre-start/Pre-operation checks, fault reporting, set-up, load weight estimation, AS 2550.10 - Cranes Safe Use – Material and Personnel Hoists.

Certification
Darwin & Western Australia
Competent candidates will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (HM/HP) and nationally recognized WorkSafe 60 day interim certificate. WorkSafe will issue a Certificate of Competency within that 60 day period.

International
On successful completion of this course, candidates will be issued with an Australian Skills Training Ltd Certificate of Competency in Materials Hoist operation.

8 hours conducted over 1 day.
